Ghana – One person is reported dead after the heavy downpour in the Ashanti region on Friday. The rains which lasted for about four hours left a lot of people stranded at their homes as floods took over streets and some properties in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital. The national capital Accra was also affected by the floods.

Philippines – Cebu City suffered floods and massive traffic gridlock due to the heavy rains on Friday afternoon. Flash floods were experienced mostly in the North Reclamation Area (NRA) and areas near the sea.


Wildfires – Canada

With the fire season winding down in the mountains, Parks Canada continues to monitor three wildfires in Glacier National Park.

The Mountain Creek, Prairie Hill and Incomappleux fires are “still smouldering in some area” said a Parks Canada press release, but “pose no rick to people or assets.”

The Mountain Creek fire is about 1944 hectares in size, while the Prairie Hill wildfire is about 3420 hectares and the Incomappleux wildfire is 780 hectares.


Brazil: Hepatitis A

The largest city in the Americas, São Paulo, Brazil is reporting a dramatic increase in hepatitis A cases this year according to data released by the Municipal Health Secretariat earlier this week. According to a local media report, between January 1 and September 16 of this year, the city recorded 517 cases of hepatitis A.
