Sudan – Floods across Sudan have left at least five people dead and over 2,300 homes damaged or destroyed. Blue Nile province one of the worst affected, where heavy rainfall caused the collapse of the Bout dam in Al Tadamun locality. The Sudanese Red Crescent said 1,200 houses have been destroyed. Flooding also affected the nearby town of Wad Abuk, where around 123 houses were also destroyed.
Low fish catch – India
Maharashtra witnessed lowest fish catch in 45 years in 2019. Fishers have also reported a 50% decline in their annual fish catch, attributing recurring cyclones for reducing their fishing window. Fish migrate from warm waters to cool waters, a phenomenon that has already begun as the Indian ocean is warming up is one of the reasons for lower fish catch. The marine algae that is the base of aquatic food web has been disappearing in the western Indian Ocean owing to rising sea temperatures.
Wildfires – British Columbia, Canada
Wildfire officials are crediting the public for reporting smoke and flames during a weekend that recorded dozens of new wildfires in B.C. Thunderstorms are suspected to have caused 22 of them, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service. As of Sunday evening, there were a total of 39 active wildfires in the province, mainly in the Southern Interior. No wildfires posed a potential threat to public safety.

A wildfire northwest of Palm Springs flared up Saturday, with evacuation orders for thousands of people as firefighters fought the blaze in triple-degree heat.
The blaze, dubbed the Apple Fire, doubled in size overnight and is over 18 square miles. About 7,800 people have been told to evacuate over 2,500 homes, according to fire officials. Hundreds of people in foothill neighborhoods north of Beaumont fell under mandatory evacuation orders. One home has been destroyed. Herrera said firefighters were having difficulty assessing the damage because the charred ground was too hot to walk on.
