Nepal – A landslide in the Parbat district of Nepal has claimed lives of six people and left two others missing. The landslide was triggered by heavy rainfall in the district affecting Durlung of Kushma Municipality and Modi Mural Municipality.
Mexico – Intense rainfall in central Mexico caused rivers and streams to overflow in several municipalities of the state of Morelos on 02 September 2021. Authorities reported floods in Tlayacapan, Ayala, Cuautla, Yautepec, Jonacatepec, Jantetelco, Yecapixtla and Tepalcingo. Four people lost their lives and 1 person is still missing. Over 300 houses were damaged, some severely, affecting an estimated 1,600 residents. Sixty homes were damaged in Tlayacapan, where the 4 fatalities were reported.

Rodent Takeover
The residents of a gated community in Argentina are struggling to get along with some unruly new neighbours: hundreds of the world’s largest rodents. Local residents have reported that the robust rodents, which can reach over 4 feet (1.2 meters) long and weigh up to 174 pounds (79 kilograms), have been pooping in gardens, destroying flower beds, causing traffic accidents and allegedly biting pet dogs.
Environmentalists say the capybaras are not invading the area but rather taking back their natural home from the multimillion-dollar development, which, in the late 1990s, was built on top of ecologically important wetlands surrounding the banks of the Paraná River, the second-largest river in South America, which was their home.

H9N2 avian influenza – China
Chinese health officials reported one new case of human infection with avian influenza A(H9N2) to the World Health Organization (WHO) this week. This is the 15th case of avian influenza A(H9N2) reported from China in 2021. A total of 56 cases of human infection with avian influenza A(H9N2) have been officially reported from China to WHO since December 2015.
