In the Northwest Pacific Ocean: Typhoon 12w (Hinnamnor), located approximately 338 nm southwest of Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan, is tracking northward at 06 knots.

In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Tropical storm 11e (Javier), located approximately 647 nm south-southeast of San Diego, is tracking north-northwestward at 12 knots.

Mexico – Heavy rain has affected several states of Mexico over the last few days, with flooding or landslide reported in Coahuila, Sinaloa, Oaxaca, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Morelos. Approximately 140mm Ain fell in across wide areas in 24 hours to late 30 August 2022. Several hundred houses were affected, with thousands of people left without shelter.

India – Flooding in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, has affected over 245,000 people over the last few days. The Ganges is above the danger mark in at least 5 locations, including Varanasi. The flooding has affected over 1,000 villages across 22 districts in the state since 26 August 2022. As of 31 August, India’s Central Water Commission reported the Ganges was at or above Severe Flood Level in the districts of Ballia, Barabanki, Ghazipur, Praygraj and Varanasi.

Wildfires – California

At about 8:10 p.m. the FIRIS aircraft mapped the Mill Fire at 3,921 acres, showing that it had burned from Weed, California north to the shore of Lake Shastina, a distance of nearly six miles.

The Mountain Fire 12 air miles west of Weed near Gazelle Callahan Road has burned approximately 700 acres. It is about 9 miles southwest of Gazelle.

Another fire reported at about 12:58 p.m. PDT is threatening structures in the town of Weed which is northwest of Mt. Shasta, 56 air miles north of Redding California. The blaze is moving rapidly to the north. Evacuations are in effect. The last size released was 1,228 acres, but the blaze has grown substantially since then.

Dengue Fever

Laos – In an update on the dengue fever situation in Laos, Health authorities report 21,799 total dengue cases as of September 1. The capital city of Vientiane reports the most cases with 10,961.

Singapore – In a follow-up on the dengue situation in Singapore, the NEA now reports 26,095 total dengue cases through September 2. This is around 5 times the 5,258 cases reported in the whole of 2021. Dengue cases continue to drop week after week with 666 cases reported last week.

Argentina – Unknown Pneumonia

On 1 September the Ministry of Health of Argentina informed of the notification by the Ministry of Public Health of Tucumán Province, on the detection of a cluster of 6 cases of bilateral pneumonia in six patients without etiological identification so far on August 30. All cases are related to the same healthcare center.
