In the Northwest Pacific Ocean: Tropical Storm 14w (Fourteen), located approximately 690 nm southeast of Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan, is tracking west-southwestward at 10 knots.

In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Hurricane 12e (Kay), located approximately 830 nm south-southeast of San Diego, is tracking north-northwestward at 10 knots.

Uganda – More heavy rain has fallen in Uganda‘s Western Region, triggering a massive landslide in in Kasika village, Kigoro Parish in Rukoki Subcounty, Kasese District late on 06 September 2022. As of 07 September, Uganda Red Cross reported 15 dead bodies had been recovered from the landside. The majority of the dead are mothers and children.

Colombia – Raging floods swept through areas of Caldas Department in Colombia leaving at least 3 people dead and damaging hundreds of homes. Flooding struck on 03 September 2022 after heavy rain caused the Supía river and the Rapao creek to overflow. Areas of the town of Supía and surrounding villages in the the municipality of the same name were all affected. Parts of the municipality of Riosucio, situated to the west of Supía, were also severely impacted. 1 person died in floods in the municipality of Supía, and 2 others in Riosucio. Around 40 homes were damaged and 12 houses were completely destroyed. UNGRD said 540 households (around 3,000 people) have been affected, with some having to evacuate their homes.

South Korea – At least 2 people have died and 10 are missing after the powerful Typhoon Hinnamnor hit regions of South Korea on 06 September 2022. The storm dumped over 1 metre of rain in some areas. Cumulative rainfall of 1,059.0 mm fell in Jeju (04 to 06 September 2022), while Gyeongju recorded 447.5 mm, Pohang 367.5 mm and Ulsan City 343.5 mm. The rain has triggered flash flooding and landslides in particular in North Gyeongsang Province. Officials reported one person died in floods in the coastal city of Pohang which has recorded 271 mm of rain in the past 24 hours. A second fatality occurred after a landslide buried a house in Gyeongju. 160 buildings were damaged in the storm, along with around 50 roads and bridges and 1,320 hectares of crops. Over 60,000 homes were left without electricity. Around 3,000 people have evacuated homes and moved to safer areas.

Chad – Chad’s heaviest seasonal rainfall in more than 30 years has left parts of the capital N’Djamena navigable only by boat and forced thousands to flee their flooded homes over the past month, according to aid groups and the state weather agency. More than 442,000 people in Chad had been affected by the floods as of the end of August.

Wildfires

Wildfires – California

Over 4,000 firefighters are battling 14 large fires around the state, and 45 new fires erupted on Sunday alone.

The Fairview Fire south of Hemet, California has been vigorously spreading to the east Tuesday afternoon and has burned 4,542 acres. Two people have been reported killed in the Fairview Fire while they were apparently attempting to flee from the fire.

The Radford Fire south of Big Bear Lake has spread to and crossed over the NF-2N10 road above the Snow Summit ski area. The US Forest Service says the fire has grown to 917 acres. There is infrastructure on the mountain that will be important for firefighters to protect.
