Venezuela – At least 7 people lost their lives and 3 are still missing after raging floods took a group of tourists by surprise in Táchira State, Venezuela. Earlier Venezuela’s Civil Protection agency had warned of severe weather including heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Wave No. 39 would likely impact wide areas of the country from 22 September. Local media reported damaging floods in after heavy rain early on 22 September in the state of La Guaira.

Disease

Dengue Fever – Peru

The Peru Ministry of Health (Minsa) issued an epidemiological alert to public and private health facilities nationwide due to the increase in cases and occurrence of dengue outbreaks in the country. To date, 58,117 cases and 75 deaths have been reported.

Ebola – Uganda

Less than one week ago, Uganda health authorities reported a case of Sudan ebolavirus in man from Mubende District, about 100 miles west of the capital city of Kampala. This was the first Ebola case reported in Uganda since 2019. Since that first case and the subsequent outbreak declaration, the Uganda Ministry of Health (MOH) reports today the cumulative cases reported now stands at 34 (16 confirmed, 18 probable).
