Measles – Argentina

In a follow-up on the measles situation in Argentina, the Ministry of Health has reported 97 cases in 2019. Most of the cases were reported since late August representing the largest measles outbreak in the country since the elimination of the endemic circulation of the virus, reached in 2000 and certified in 2016 by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). The majority of cases have been reported in the City of Buenos Aires and the province of Buenos Aires, which is associated with summer vacations and high population mobility towards tourist areas, making it even more of a concern.
