East Coast, USA – The category four hurricane was 500 miles southeast of Wilmington, North Carolina this morning, and is set to unleash torrential rain and high winds from Thursday to Saturday. Meteorologists are particularly concerned about the slow-moving nature of the hurricane, as this means areas will receive a concentrated burst of rain and wind. Parts of the Carolinas and the mid-Atlantic are likely to get 15 and 25 inches of rain by the end of the weekend. The National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said wave heights of up to 83 feet were measured this morning to the northeast of the hurricane.
