Congo Brazzaville – The government in Republic of Congo (Congo Brazzaville) have declared a state of humanitarian emergency after ongoing floods in the north of the country. The Ministry of Social Affairs said levels of the Congo and Ubangui rivers have been high in the north of the country since July 2020. As of 03 November, 66,000 people in 81 villages were affected in the Department of Likouala. Homes have been damaged or destroyed, as well as schools, health centres, drinking water infrastructure, crops and livestock.
Indonesia – Around 7,000 people have been affected by flooding in Indonesia’s Aceh Province over the last few days. Hundreds of homes have been damaged. Flooding struck in Aceh Singkil Regency on 04 November after the Lae Cinendang river broke its banks. 455 homes were damaged, affecting 2,172 people. A schools and around 300 hectares of crops were also damaged. Heavy rain during this period also caused the Krueng Langsa river to overflow, flooding parts of Langsa City. Around 722 homes were damaged and 3,610 people affected. Some residents were evacuated by emergency teams using boats. Meanwhile in South Aceh, heavy rain triggered flash flooding on 04 November that affected 321 people and damaged 79 homes.
