Boston, USA – The heavy downpours that drenched the region Thursday morning flooded roads in the Boston area, but no injuries or crashes were reported, officials said.

Boston, USA – Two construction workers died due to flooding at South End street, Boston Friday night. A powerful surge of water killed two people working inside 12 to 15 foot deep trench on Dartmouth Street. A fast-moving storm dumped as much as 4 inches of rain on the Central Massachusetts town of Sterling.

Tropical cyclone Nathan is located approximately 298 nm east-northeast of Cairns, Australia and is tracking south-southeastward at 02 knots.

The category two storm is expected to intensify to at least a category three and turn towards the north Queensland coast on Thursday or Friday. Nathan came very close to Cooktown, north of Cairns, last week before making a U-turn and heading back out to sea.

Tropical storm 03w (Bavi), located approximately 390 nm north-northwest of Yap, and is tracking westward at 10 knots.


Vanuatu – Death toll rises after Cyclone Pam – A UN team in Vanuatu says 24 people are confirmed dead and 3,300 have been displaced by Cyclone Pam, with communication to outlying islands still down.

Boston, USA – Boston has broken the record for the snowiest winter in the city’s recorded history. The National Weather Service said the city received 108.6in (275.8cm) of snow this winter, beating the 1995-1996 record of 107.6 inches.

Tornadoes, USA – Not a single tornado has been reported to the National Weather Service so far in March, which typically marks the first month of severe weather season in the Plains and Southeast. The only other year since 1950 that there have been zero tornado reports in the first half of March was 1969.

Tropical Depression Genevieve is located near latitude 12.9 north…longitude 149.0 west. The depression is moving toward the west near 7 mph…11 km/h …And this motion is expected to increase slightly through the next 48 hours.

In the Western Pacific:

Tropical storm 11w (Halong) is located approximately 75 nm northwest of Navsta, Guam, and is tracking westward at 08 knots.


India – At least 15 people were killed after heavy rains triggered a landslide in Maharashtra’s Pune district, burying over 160 as rescuers searched for survivors and bodies in the massive debris of mud and rock. Racing against time and battling inclement weather. Emergency personnel have pulled out 15 bodies from the rubble and many injured survivors so far.

Germany – Summer storms bring flooding to parts of western Germany.

USA – A storm system that wreaked havoc across the eastern half of the U.S. spawned a tornado just north of Boston on Monday, causing extensive damage. Winds as high as 120 miles per hour roared through Revere Monday, uprooting hundreds of trees, ripping roofs off houses and flipping cars.

The death toll in Haiti’s cholera epidemic is approaching 8,000, and more than 6% of Haitians have had the disease since it invaded the country in October 2010 after the major earthquake.

Boston Mayor Declares Public Health Emergency

Signs of an increasingly severe flu season prompted city officials to declare a public health emergency in Boston, where infections have increased tenfold compared with last season. So far about 700 cases and four deaths, all seniors, have been reported in Boston, which is experiencing its worst flu season since the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.

Landslide in Colombia

Bodies of five victims have been discovered. At least 20 people are still expected to be buried under the debris. Seven people were injured and a number of vehicles buried in mud.

Landslide occurred road between the cities of Neiva and San Vicente del Caguán to the south-west of the capital of Colombia.

Flooding in central Greece

One person reported to be killed in rainstorm in Vathylakos of Karditsa in central Greece.

Due to overflow of Sperchios river, over 4 million square meters have flooded near Lamia, in central Greece.

Around 200 roma people are living in evacuation center.

A river has also overflown at Kalamos, north of Athens.

A state of calamity has been declared in 11 towns of Capiz, in the Philippines that suffered from flooding due to Typhoon Quinta.

Calamity declared towns are Panay, Pontevedra, Panitan, Maayon, Sigma, Mambusao, Dumarao, Dumalag, Tapaz, Cuartero and Dao.
