Tajikistan and Afghanistan – At least 14 people have lost their lives after heavy rain triggered flash flooding and mudslides in Tajikistan and northern areas of neighbouring Afghanistan. This is the second severe flood event to strike in Afghanistan in the past week. Flooding destroyed a bridge in Danghara District and damaged around 26 homes in Shamsiddin Shohin district. Flood damage was also reported in Yovon District. Flooding also struck parts of Central Government Jurisdiction (RSS) region. Flooding struck in Takhar province, including provincial capital Taluqan city, in northern Afghanistan on 10 May 2021. This flood event comes just days after severe flooding in parts of the country from 03 May 2021.

Indonesia – At least 7 people have died after heavy rain caused a landslide West Sumatra, Indonesia. A landslide struck a mining area of Sangir Batang Hari District, South Solok Regency, West Sumatra, on 10 May 2021 after heavy rain. Conditions are making access to the area difficult for rescue teams. Heavy rain has also caused flooding and landslides in other areas of Sumatra Island over the the last few days.

Afghanistan – Widespread flash flooding in Afghanistan has caused fatalities and destroyed dozens of homes over recent days. On 04 May 2021 that heavy rain and flash flooding affected several provinces from 02 May 2021. The affected provinces include Herat, Ghor, Maidan Wardak, Baghlan, Samangan, Khost, Bamyan, Daikundi and Badakhshan. Damage assessments are ongoing but as of 04 May, 16 people had died, 10 were missing, 44 homes destroyed and 197 damaged. Media reported 14 people died in Adraskan district in Herat Province.

Yemen – Heavy rain and flash floods caused fatalities and widespread damage in the historic town of Tarim in Hadhramaut Governorate. Flooding struck after heavy rainfall from 01 May 2021. At least 4 people died after several houses collapsed and hundreds were damaged. Rescue teams are searching for missing people thought to be buried under the rubble of collapsed homes. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding has affected other areas of the country including parts of Al Hudaydah Governorate in the west of the country where several houses reportedly collapsed.

Afghanistan – Afhanistan‘s National Disaster management Agency (ANDMA) reports flooding has affected eastern provinces of the country after heavy rainfall from 25 August 2020. At least 35 people have died in the floods.

Pakistan – Heavy monsoon rainfall has caused flooding and landslides in Sindh Province, Pakistan, including the provincial capital, Karachi. According the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) in a report of 25 August, heavy rainfall and ensuing flooding affected the districts of Mirpur Khas, Tharparkar, Karachi, Badin, Thatta, Hyderabad, Chhor and Tando Jam from 24 August 2020. Local media report around 300 were evacuated in Dadu and over 1,000 in Karachi district.

Kenya – At least 1,000 families have been displaced by flooding from Lake Turkana in northwestern Kenya. Meanwhile the Turkwel Dam is expected to overflow, with over 300,000 people facing evacuation. Recent water inflow into the lake has surged to unprecedented levels from 500m to 800m claiming the once dry beaches, hotels, homes, government offices and displacement of more than 1,000 households.

Sudan – Khartoum was hit by heavy rains on Friday (31 July) and Saturday (01 August 2020). Floods covered large parts of East Nile locality in Khartoum North. A number of houses collapsed.

Afghanistan – Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) said that 100 homes were damaged or destroyed after heavy rain triggered flash flooding in Kuz Kunar district on 31 July. ADMA reported 14 people have died as a result, with 6 people injured. Flooding was also reported in Parwan Province where homes and roads were damaged or destroyed in areas of the provincial capital, Charikar.

South Korea – At least 5 people have died and 7 others are missing after heavy rains triggered mudslides and flooding in central South Korea on 02 August, 2020. Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) reported rainfall of more than 290mm in 24 hours from 01 to 02 August in areas of Gyeonggi and North Chungcheong provinces. North Chungcheong Province is the worst affected. Homes have been damaged, roads closed and train services suspended. Floods and mudslides caused fatalities in Chungju (1), Eumseong (2) and Jecheon (1).

Georgia – According to local authorities, flooding affected several villages in Oni municipality, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region. Roads and bridges were damaged or destroyed, leaving around 2,000 people cut off. Power and drinking water supply was interrupted. Flooding was also reported in Guria Region, where roads and crops were damaged, and in Imereti Region, in particular in Tskaltubo municipality where the Rioni River broke its banks. Meanwhile mudflows have blocked roads in Tskhinvali region.
