In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Hurricane 06e (Felicia), located approximately 1135 nm east of Hilo, Hawaii, is tracking westward at 14 knots.

Tropical depression 07e (Guillermo), located approximately 868 nm south-southwest of San Diego, is tracking westward at 14 knots.

In the Northwest Pacific Ocean: Typhoon 09w (In-Fa), located approximately 149 nm southeast of Kadena AFB, is tracking west-northwestward at 10 knots.

Typhoon 10w (Cempaka), located approximately 119 nm west-southwest of Hong Kong, is tracking northwestward at 01 knots.

China – Two reservoir dams failed in locations near Hulunbuir City in the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, on 17 July 2021. The dams failed after a period of heavy rainfall. Over 200mm of rain fell in some areas, causing dams to fail in 2 separate locations. Nearby areas were flooded and authorities initiated an emergency response, carrying out households checks and search and rescue operations. According to media reports, bridges and roads were destroyed and wide areas of farmland inundated. Over 16,000 people in the area are thought to have ben affected by the floods.

Colombia – Overflowing rivers and flash floods have affected parts of Antioquia Department in northwest Colombia since mid-July 2021. 2 people died after their vehicles was swept away by flash floods in Santo Domingo municipality on 17 July. Meanwhile one person died after heavy rains caused the sudden increase of the Buey river in Montebello Municipality. As many as 36 homes were in danger of collapsing into the river after the floods wiped out around 40 metres of river bank.

Iran – Flash flooding, storms and heavy rainfall have affected 15 provinces of Iran over the last week, causing fatalities, displacements and emergency rescues. 2,578 people were affected, 611 people have been displaced from their homes and 58 people had to be rescued. According to Red Crescent reports, 7 people died in floods while 1 person was killed as a result of lightning strike. Among the fatalities are two people who went missing after vehicles were swept away by flash floods in Baft county, Kerman Province on 17 July.

Japan – Around 300 people evacuated their homes in Kagoshima after torrential rain in Japan. On 10 July, Satsuma in Kagoshima recorded 96.5 mm of rain in 1 hour and 209.0 mm in 3 hours. Satsumasendai City in Kagoshima recorded 95.5 mm in 1 hour, and Ebino in Miyazaki recorded 83.5 mm. According to Japan’s Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA) a road collapsed in Satsuma due to flooding, leaving 34 people isolated. A dam in the town threatened to fail, prompting the evacuation of around 300 people. Meanwhile rescuers continue to work through the debris of the devastating mudslide that struck in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture on 03 July 2021. According to the latest update, 9 people have been confirmed dead and 20 are still missing.

Colombia – Severe flooding has affected parts of Magdalena Department in northern Colombia since early July 2021. According to the government of Magdalena Department, the Seville and Frío rivers overflowed on 03 July 2021, flooding the communities of Guacamayal, Sevilla, Gran Vía and Orihueca in the municipality of Zona Bananera. As of 07 July, as many as 5,576 families were affected.The departmental government is also working on shoring up river embankments to prevent further flooding.

UK – Heavy rainfall in eastern England, UK on 09 July 2021 caused streets to flood, disrupting traffic and damaging homes and businesses. The city of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire was the worst affected. Flooding was also reported in areas around the city of Norwich in Norfolk, damaging some buildings and leaving roads impassable.

Chad – The United Nations reports that 5 people died and thousands are in need of shelter after torrential rain in Chad in central Africa from late June 2021. UN OCHA said 5 people died and 231 were injured. Furthermore around 4,413 houses were destroyed and over 30 educational and health buildings were severely damaged or destroyed. Livestock also suffered. The UN says the damage in Tandjilé Prefecture has left 20,000 people in need of shelter, food, and health assistance.

USA – The state of Texas is making preparations after torrential rain affected South Texas and Coastal Bend communities over the last few days. High water rescues were reported in Rockport where several roads were impassable. A wide area of low pressure over southern Texas brought days of torrential rainfall. In a 96 hour period to 09 July, Rockport recorded 18.31 inches (465 mm) of rain.

Colombia – Civil Defence in Colombia recently reported that over 20,000 people have been affected by heavy rain, floods and landslides across the country over the last 2 weeks. Almost 2,800 homes have been damaged and over 200 destroyed. At least 1 fatality was reported in Meta Department and one person reported missing in Antioquia.

Switzerland – Damaging flash floods swept though villages of Neuchâtel Canton in Switzerland late on 22 June 2021. Roads were ripped up and cars upturned. Fortunately no injuries or fatalities were reported. Local rivers overflowed sending torrents of water, debris and sludge into the streets of the Cressier and Frochaux during the evening of 22 June. Landslides were also reported in the area.

Virginia, USA – Heavy rainfall from 21 to 22 June caused flooding in Cameron and surrounding areas of Marshall County, West Virginia. The county reported damages to businesses, homes, municipal buildings, educational facilities and recreational facilities. Reports soon after the flooding struck suggest around 30 homes and buildings have been damaged. Flood water in parts of the city was up to 5 feet / 1.5 metres deep in places.

Europe – A series of storms brought flash flooding to parts of Poland, Czechia, Germany and Italy from 20 to 22 June 2021. The city of Poznan in western Poland was among the hardest hit areas, where buildings including a hospital were damaged.

Germany – Heavy rain and flooding continue across parts of Germany. Tragedy struck in the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg when a man died in a flooded basement apartment in Biberach district. Days of stormy weather including lightning strikes, heavy rain and flash flooding, has affected areas of western, central and southern Germany since 03 June 2021.

Colombia – Heavy rain in several regions of Colombia has resulted in landslides and flooding, damaging hundreds of homes in the eastern department of Arauca and leaving 2 people dead in northwestern Antioquia. Local media reported flooding in the city and surrounding areas of Cúcuta, capital of Norte de Santander department, 05 June 2021. Roads were inundated in central parts of the city after the Pamplonita river broke its banks. One person died when a vehicle fell into a rainwater channel near a round on the outskirts of the city.

Guyana – As many as 25,000 households have now ben affected by widespread flooding in Guyana since mid-May according to the country’s Civil Defence Commission (CDC). CDC has received reports of more than 25,000 households impacted by flooding in more than 300 communities across all regions of Guyana since 18 May 2021. By 21 May some 1,400 homes had been flooded. Recent estimated suggest between 7,000 and 8,000 homes have now been damaged.

In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Tropical Depression 02e (Bianca), located approximately 1047 nm south-southeast of San Diego, is tracking westward at 04 knots.

Colombia – Heavy rain in the department of Antioquia, Colombia, has triggered flooding and landslides over the last few days, affecting hundreds of people and causing 1 fatality. As of 02 June, the homes of 180 families in Cisneros were flooded and at least 60 families have evacuated. Around 8 homes were flooded in Santo Domingo, where damage to roads and bridges has left communities isolated. A landslide in Campamento destroyed at least 2 homes, leaving 1 person dead and another injured.

France – Thunderstorms and heavy rain crossed northern France and into Belgium from 01 June 2021, causing flash floods and mudslides. Météo-France reported 55mm of rain fell in 1 hour at Joigny in Yonne department on 02 June 2021. Heavy rain triggered flooding or mudslides in several departments of northern France from 01 June, in particular the departments of Seine-et-Marne, Seine-Maritime, Oise and Meuse.

Colombia – Officials in Colombia report that over 30,000 people have been affected by floods and landslides across the country over the past 2 weeks. Three people have died and 5 were injured. Around 8 houses were destroyed and at least 2,500 damaged.

Saudi Arabia – Torrential rainfall flooded areas of Mecca in Saudi Arabia on 27 April 2021. A sudden storm during the afternoon caused flooding across the city. Images and videos shared on Social Media showed streets were inundated and vehicles swept away by fast-flowing flood waters. Saudi Civil Defence said it has been assisting in affected areas in the city of Mecca (also Makkah) and areas of Mecca Region, including the rescue of motorists in vehicles trapped in flood water.

Colombia – The overflowing Telembí river caused flooding in the municipality of Barbacoas in Nariño Department, western Colombia from 21 April 2021. The flooding came after a period of heavy rainfall in the region. According to the local government, 23 areas of the municipality were flooded. Damage to roads and homes was reported and 1,700 families were affected.

In the Southern Hemisphere: Tropical cyclone 29s (jobo), located approximately 539 nm north of Antananarivo, Madagascar, is tracking west-northwestward at 08 knots.

Cambodia – Severe storms and heavy rain caused flooding and damage in the provinces of Oddar Meanchey, Battambang and Pursat from 16 April 2021. As many as 13 people were injured and 32 homes damaged in Kralanh village, Krakor District in Pursat province after stormy weather on 17 April. Storm damage was also reported in Phnom Kravanh district on the same day, while heavy rain of 87.5mm in 24 hours to 19 Apruil caused flooding in Pursat City. One person died and another injured after lightning strike in Banteay Ampil district in Oddar Meanchey Province on 16 April. Areas of Chong Kal district were also affected. A total of 35 homes were damaged in the province. As much as 97.5 mm of rain fell in 24 hours to 18 April in Banteay Ampil. In Battambang province, rainstorms and lightning strikes were reported in Rotanak Mondol district on 16 April, damaging or destroying 30 houses.

Philippines – On 19 April that a total of 68,490 people were pre-emptively evacuated in Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions due to threats from Tropical Cyclone Surigae (known locally as Bising). Flooding was reported in in 22 barangays in Eastern Samar province after heavy rain. Roads were blocked in Eastern Samar and a bridge in Biliran. Power cuts occurred in Cebu, Leyte, Southern Leyte and Eastern Samar.

Colombia – Flash floods have caused severe damage in the municipality of El Carmen de Bolivar in the department of Bolivar in northern Colombia. Local authorities have declared a state of disaster. Flooding struck on 12 April after hours of heavy rain. Local media said the downpour caused the overflow of the Alférez stream which runs through the municipality. As many as 30 neighbourhoods were affected. Estimates suggest around 70% of the municipality was under water. Colombia Civil Defence reports that around 900 homes were damaged. Civil Defence also reported flash flooding in parts of the southern Putumayo Department from 11 to 13 April 2021.

Australia – Authorities have closed roads and issued warnings to motorists as dust storms move across South Australia. Numerous motor vehicle accidents have occurred due to lack of visibility.

Peru – Overflowing rivers have damaged homes, roads and crops in several provinces of of Loreto Region and parts of San Martin Region. Flooding from the the overflowing Marañón River damaged buildings, including a school, in the town of Maypuco, Urarinas district. n 10 April the Morona River overflowed, flooding the surrounding areas in the district of Morona, damaging homes and crops.

Colombia – Heavy rain caused flash floods in the city of Villavicencio in Meta Department of Colombia. Heavy rain fell from 11 April, triggering severe floods across Villavicencio. Local government said 200 families were affected.

Tropical cyclone 26s (Seroja), located approximately 429 nm north-northwest of Broome, Australia, is tracking west-southwestward at 09 knots.

Colombia – Heavy rain has affected several departments in the country over the last few days, causing floods and landslides which have damaged homes and left at least 3 people dead. The 3 fatalities were reported after heavy rain triggered a landslide in Florencia, capital of Caquetá Department, on 05 April 2021. The landslide caused a building to collapse, killing 3 of the inhabitants. Landslides were also reported in parts of the national capital, Bogotá. At least 35 people were affected and 4 homes damaged in 2 separate landslides in the city between 01 and 05 April. Severe flooding in Quípama, Boyacá Department on 03 April damaged 65 homes, destroyed 2 others and affected a total of 325 residents. Five people were injured.

Colombia – More heavy rain caused severe flooding in the municipality of Dabeiba in Antioquia Department on 22 March. The departments disaster agency Dagran Antioquia reported 237 buildings damaged, 10 vehicles damaged along with road and infrastructure, including a local market square. As of 185 families affected. No major injuries were reported.

Pakistan – Heavy rain fell in parts of northern Pakistan from 22 March 2021. Authorities reported severe material damages and fatalities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. A total of 38 houses were completely destroyed while one person was electrocuted by downed power lines.

Colombia – At least 8 houses were destroyed after heavy rain in Santiago de Cali (also known as Cali), capital of Valle del Cauca department in southwestern Colombia early 22 March, 2021. Authorities said 116mm of rain fell in the space of a few hours, causing flash floods and landslides. Widespread damage was reported across several points of the city, including falling trees, damaged roads and collapsed houses.

Australia – Australian authorities are planning to evacuate thousands more people on Monday from flood-affected suburbs in Sydney’s west, which is set for its worst flooding in 60 years with drenching rain expected to continue for the next few days. Unrelenting rains over the past three days swelled rivers in Australia’s most populous state of New South Wales (NSW), causing widespread damage and triggering calls for mass evacuations.
