Three wildfires burning in Utah this week have been human-caused. Fire officials said the wildfire season doesn’t officially start until June 1. The Choke Cherry fire in Southwestern Utah has burned 700 acres and is 25% contained. In the northeastern part of the state, Utah Fire Info shows the East Myton wildfire has covered a little more than 2,700 acres. It’s 75% contained. It took three days to get the 1,300 acre Little Pass wildfire under control in an area west of the Great Salt Lake.

Two wildfires burning in eastern Utah have merged, and multiple structures are threatened. The two fires began Monday near the town of Myton, in eastern Duchesne County. Fire officials said the combined fire — later dubbed the “East Myton Complex Fire” — had burned 2,200 acres as of Monday night and was 10 percent contained.

Wildfires in the Black Hills of South Dakota have forced evacuations of more than 400 homes northwest of Rapid City and shut down Mount Rushmore, authorities said Monday. A fire that started near Schroeder Road in the Nemo area, about 15 miles northwest of Rapid City, had burned as much as 800 acres and was “still moving” on Monday afternoon, according to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. Several outbuildings and possibly two homes have been destroyed, officials said.

The “6” Fire was reported in Jones County, five miles north of Okaton and nine miles northwest of Murdo. The fire is estimated at 5,000 acres but size is unconfirmed.

An out of control bushfire caused evacuations on Sydney’s northern beaches on Saturday – and forced production crews to flee the Big Brother house.

The fire at North Head, near Manly, started as a hazard reduction burn before turning into an emergency when flames were blown past containment lines. The blaze sent smoke billowing across Sydney Harbour, leaving a haze hanging over the city.

The Range Fire and Fire Canyon Fire have already burned through thousands of acres in less than a day in Utah, with the cause of both fires still under investigation.

A fast-moving, rapidly growing wildfire erupted Saturday and expanded to more than 8,788 acres by Sunday morning in northwest Boulder County, Colo., prompting the evacuation of at least 3,000 people and sending hikers and campers fleeing to safety. The fire is just 5 percent contained, and low clouds grounded firefighting aircraft this morning.

• The Turkey Farm Fire, three miles west of Washington City, was 100% contained as of Monday night at nearly 12,000 acres.

• Firefighters were patrolling and mopping up hot spots at the 2,618-acre Veyo West Fire, near the town of Veyo, also in Washington County, according to Utah Wildfire Info. According to the most recent update, that fire was 90% contained.

• The Big Summit Fire, which has burned 8,461 acres in Iron County along the Nevada-Utah border, was 54% contained as of Monday afternoon. Firefighters expected to contain the fire by Monday night, according to Utah Wildfire Info.

• The Pole Canyon Fire, which was sparked Wednesday by a bulldozer near the Eagle Mountain neighborhood of White Hills, was 93% contained at 488 acres.

• The Cottonwood Trail Fire, which has burned through 1,631 acres in Washington County, is 35% contained. It was sparked by a blown tire.

Thousands of acres are burning in various parts of the state as more wildfires have sparked across Utah.

The Turkey Farm Fire has burned 1,644 acres three miles west of Washington County. No structures have been damaged as of Tuesday morning.

The hot and fast-moving Veyo West Fire is threatening the west side of Veyo in Washington County. Crews have reopened state Route 18 as the blaze has burned approximately 1,100 acres with zero percent containment.

A wildfire west of Utah Lake forced the evacuation of 13,000 people from 3,100 homes in southern sections of Saratoga Springs Sunday afternoon as strong winds drove flames close to homes and made a battle from the air impossible for firefighters.

The Rock Path Fire in Millard and Beaver Counties reached 20,117 acres and was 25% contained as of 4:40 p.m. Saturday. No structures were threatened by the Rock Path Fire but state Route 257 has been closed in the area.

Fire officials said the Canal Fire was mapped out at 450 acres and 100% contained as of 4:15 p.m. Saturday.

A wildfire broke out Monday afternoon near Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo County, prompting authorities to close the 101 Freeway and evacuate residents, fire and law enforcement agencies said.

The Bush Fire, around 30 miles northeast of Phoenix, has burned over 64,000 acres since Saturday, according to fire officials. Firefighters will have to battle winds that are expected to reach 20 to 30 miles per hour as well as dry summer heat, with temperatures above 100 in places. About 1,600 people living east of the fire were ordered on Monday morning to evacuate, with those in another community north of the fire ordered on Tuesday to do so, officials said.

The Bringham Fire, also in Arizona, began on June 6 and is now at nearly 6,000 hectares (14,800 acres) and only 5-percent contained.

The fire season continues with multiple wildfires reported this weekend across the state of Utah. Fire officials say there are three wildfires burning in Tooele County alone. The largest one, the Big Springs Fire, is estimated to have burned almost 3,000 acres.

So far, smoke from the 2,300-acre Bighorn Fire burning north of Tucson and the 3,500-acre Tortolita Fire northwest of Oro Valley has not been a problem for the city’s residents. A shift in wind direction, however, is expected to change that.

Late Friday evening, Utah County fire crews and first responders were dispatched to an area southwest of Goshen to respond to a quickly growing fire. While fire crews attended to the blaze, winds of over 50 miles per hour rolled into southwest Utah County, causing the fire to spread to up to 2,000 acres as of Saturday morning. Despite high winds continuing through Saturday, fire crews were able to limit the Elberta Fire to about 1,000 acres.

A California fire department is battling a four-alarm wildfire near the Suisun City Wildlife Center in the San Francisco Bay Area. At least seven homes have been lost, about 15 are directly threatened and more than 100 are indirectly threatened. Half of the firefighters are battling the fire and half are trying to save structures. The fire has burned more than 8 000 acres and is still not under control. Most of the animals were released including foxes and coyotes but some of the animals were lost, including some flightless owls.

Firefighting crews are working to extinguish three lightning-caused wildfires that have burned thousands of acres in Box Elder County. The three wildfires are south and west of Park Valley and have burned a combined area of about 10 000 acres.

Utah, USA – At least one hiker was killed Monday afternoon when flash floods ripped through slot canyons in Utah’s San Rafael Swell, prompting a massive search by ground and air for other possible victims. The Emery County Sheriff’s Office said the person died in Little Wildhorse Canyon, a popular hiking destination near Goblin Valley State Park, while 21 others made it out of the flooded canyon safely.

A pair of wildfires in southern Utah County have moved about five miles northward in the Diamond Fork area. The Pole Creek and Bald Mountain fires have burned 86,379 acres combined, according to an update from the U.S. Forest Service. Due to the Pole Creek and Bald Mountain Fires, Diamond Fork and Sheep Creek Canyons were under mandatory evacuations Sunday afternoon as the pair of fires jumped US-6.

A wildfire burning along Wyoming’s southern border that was first reported Saturday consumed more than 1,800 acres in the following 24 hours. The blaze, known as the Ryan Fire, began across the state line in the Mount Zirkel Wilderness in Jackson County, Colorado. Winds had pushed it north by Sunday night into Carbon County, Wyoming, and the Medicine Bow National Forest. Authorities say they evacuated all known occupied camps and hunting areas before the fire spread north.

Another fire reported Saturday afternoon in Bridger-Teton National Forest has burned 3,000 acres.

A swift Utah wildfire fanned by high winds has more than doubled its size as it burns through dry terrain and forces evacuations of hundreds of homes, the U.S. Forest Service said Friday. The blaze south of Spanish Fork grew to 84 square miles (217 square kilometers) from 31 square miles (80 square kilometers) Thursday night when authorities ordered evacuations in three communities. Spanish Fork is about 50 minutes south of Salt Lake City.

Crews continue to make progress fighting the Delta Fire burning in Shasta County, with the blaze 28 percent contained Friday at 60,018 acres, according to a 7 a.m. Cal Fire incident update.

Fire activity flared up along the freeway Thursday evening, forcing another temporary closure of a stretch of Interstate 5 and multiple ramps. At least 17 structures have been destroyed by the Delta Fire so far, according to the latest Cal Fire update. More than 3,200 personnel are assigned to the fire, including about 1,000 from the U.S. Forest Service.
